Followers of this blog will know that I have followed the career of D.A. Points for a long time.
I first became a fan when I watched D.A. cruise to victory on the Nationwide Tour on a Pete Dye course in West Virginia.
His easy-going manner and his great shot-making made me a believer.
A couple of years ago I had to opportunity to spend a day at the Wayne Gretzky Classic following D.A. from the first to the eighteenth hole. Along the way, his wife, who I met as we walked the course, introduced me to D.A. at the 11th hole.
Since Points returned to the PGA he has shown flashes of brilliance.
But, this week it all came together at the AT&T Pebble Beach event. Not only did he capture the title for professionals, he and his partner comedian Bill Murray took home the Pro-Am honors as well.
Congratulations D.A.!! A job well done.
Next stop Augusta. Who knows. Maybe you should take Bill Murray along as your caddy.
