Tour Championship - Day 3

It is all over except giving Vijay the cheque for $10 million, but the battle for 2nd and 3rd still rages.

Everybody seems to be calling Anthony Kim the "next great one". Will he and Tiger be golf's version of Gretzky and Crosby?

Tiger Woods has not retired, so that part of the equation is a stretch and Kim (alias A.K.) has only made any kind of splash in golf for the last year, while Crosby served notice of his potential many years before he actually played in the NHL. Also there are a few others who might challenge the claim that Kim is ready to move into Tiger-like comparisons (J.B. Holmes, a recharged Sergio Garcia and of course a few other twenty-somethings that lurk throughout the leaderboard of every PGA tournament to name just a few.)

The East Lake course appears to be a challenge to everyone as only a handful are at par or better.

What about Mike Weir? Does he like autumn or what? Mike is playing the best golf of his career since last fall when he defeated Tiger in the President's Cup. The victory that was heard across Canada, and indeed throughout the United States brought hope to Weir's fans that the former Masters' champ was back on form. He played okay, especially in most of the majors, but he seemed to play three good rounds and then collapse in the fourth. But, since the playoffs started he has been a force throughout. I think he is 5th overall and stands a good chance of finishing in the top ten in the final standings.

Oh well, Sunday just might be very exciting after all.

Should be an interesting final day of the Tour Championship. Will a guy like Kim or Sergio prevail after the Ryder Cup or will KJ or Allenby steal the show.
