Sean O'Hair, the quiet young man who always seems to be quietly in the running at many tournaments pulled off a victory yesterday at the Quail Valley tournament.
Tiger Woods was in the running all weekend, but for one reason or another could not put it together to claim another victory.
O'Hair's victory is sweet not only because he defeated a strong field let by Tiger and Phil, but because the golf course was downright NASTY!
Those greens had me thinking about the greens that make the US Open such an ordeal.
The best way to describe the greens was it was like trying to get a chip shot to bite and hold on your kitchen table.
On some holes if you were not careful you could putt the ball right off the green and into a water hazard.
Sometimes I wonder if the PGA should make the golf course set up a little more fair in terms of the speed of the greens. It should be skill, not luck, that determines whether a well-struck golf shot holds a green.
But, do not think that I am degrading O'Hair's victory by these comments. On the contrary, his perseverance and skill should be commended!
