Last week one of my favorites, Steve Stricker, captured the Northern Trust title. Stricker is an amazing golfer. A few years ago the only way he could get into a PGA tour event was to buy a ticket, like the rest of us. But, plenty of hard work has brought him back, not only to the PGA, but to the top of the leaderboard most weeks. He may not always win, but trust me, his fellow competitors know that Stricker is somewhere near, or in the Top Ten. He quietly bides his time, playing solid golf waiting for the guys in front to falter and then he can pass them.

Steve Stricker's win last week at the Northern Trust vaulted him into the Fedex Cup points lead with 758 more than 200 points ahead of Bill Haas who is another golfer who is having a tremendous spring.
Who do I like for the title this week?
1/ Steve Stricker - for all of the reasons above.
2/ Mike Weir - he had terrible week last week, but the usually steady Weir seems to do well on the west coast, so you have to give him some consideration.
3/ Rickie Fowler - he is a long shot, but I like his brashness on the course. He is going to win soon and it could be this week.
4/ Phil Mickelson - the best golfer on the PGA and one of the nicest. He is always a threat when he tees it up. I love his willingness to take chances and play unconventional shots. If he played a little more conservatively, he might win more often. But, I would miss his daring attempts at some wild shots.
