Weir Missed the Lead by a Whisker

Mike Weir must have taken the advice given to him by Wayne Gretzky in a recent television commercial. Canada's god of golf appeared at the first tee of the third round of the Barclays today sporting an unshaven look.

The commercial features Canada's two most famous sports icons talking about preparation for the playoffs.

Gretzky, the hockey legend, tells Canada's golfing legend, that hockey players grow beards for good luck during the playoffs.

The results in the ad are comical, but the results after today's third round of the Barclays are anything but a joke. The unshaven Weir fired a second straight 67 to tie for 2nd place with his good friends Vijay and Sergio Garcia. The trio alongside Paul Casey are only one stroke behind Kevin Streelman.

Looks like tomorrow could be very interesting for the youngster Streelman. One has to wonder how he will sleep tonight knowing that a couple of veteran golfers with major tournament victories under their belts alongside this year's player's champ are all breathing down his neck.

Pleasant dreams Kevin!
